This is my own recipe for taco meat, which I would prefer you to use when making my SuperBowl Dip, rather than
a prepackaged seasoning mixture. For those lazy ones who think a seasoning mixture would be easier: You're Wrong!
This is a very easy recipe to make, using ingredients almost anyone will have sitting around (and that are pretty
cheap to buy; probably not much more than the seasoning mixture would be.
World's Best Taco Meat
1 lb. ground beef
cooking oil
1 med. onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, chopped or pressed
1 T cumin

1 15 oz. can diced tomatoes
salt *
black pepper *
cayenne (red) pepper *
chili powder *

- Brown ground beef in skillet. Drain. Leave small residue of hamburger grease in skillet.
- Add a little oil to the grease in skillet. Saute onion and garlic until onion is almost starting
to get soft.
- Add the cooked ground beef, tomatoes, cumin. Add salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and chili
powder to taste.
* These are the approximate quantities of the spices that I use. However, you may not
like things as salty or spicy as I do. Use your own judgement.
2 t. salt
1/2 t. black pepper
1/2 t. chili powder
1 t. cayenne pepper
- Simmer until mixture reaches desired consistency, but no less than 15 minutes.
